Established in 1937, Phillip Island Fire Brigade faces some unique challenges.
Phillip Island has a regular population of just 12,328, but the holiday spot’s population drastically increases during certain times of the year – such as summer, school holidays and the Moto GP, where more than 100,000 people visit the island.
During these population booms, Phillip Island and other brigades from the Bass Coast need to ensure that anyone on the Island continues to be protected, while
brigades from all over the state send resources to help.
We caught up with Joe Myall from the Phillip Island Fire Brigade to tell us about these challenges and his experience at the brigade.
